Born and raised in the Philippines, May has built a life and career defined by dedication, advocacy, and service. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City, Philippines. Driven by a passion for justice and public service, she later pursued legal studies and obtained her Bachelor of Laws from Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia in 2023.
In 2005, she moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta, where she began working as a live-in caregiver. Her early experiences in Canada deeply shaped her commitment to helping others, especially within marginalized communities. She later spent eight years as a community support worker, passionately advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Her interest in law and public service led her to the Court of King’s Bench in Grande Prairie, where she worked as a Judicial Clerk for 8.5 years. Her tenure in the judicial system further reinforced her values of fairness, diligence, and community service.
An active community leader, she currently serves as the President of the Filipino Association of Grande Prairie and Area, where she continues to promote cultural heritage, unity, and representation for Filipino Canadians.
A proud multilingual speaker, she is fluent in Tagalog, Ilocano, Pangasinense, and Bisaya, and conversant in Mandarin and Spanish.
Outside of her professional and community work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughter, both fellow food enthusiasts. She also has a passion for movies, travel, and collecting luxury handbags and shoes.
